Nathan Ignoffo
Founder of OB Advisory, the advisory firm dedicated exclusively to market surveillance for exchanges, prediction markets, and trading firms.
OB Advisory is dedicated exclusively to market surveillance. We design new programs, assess live ones, and prepare teams for regulatory exams, so venues and trading firms can detect manipulation and show regulators a program that holds up.
Our work draws on experience on both sides of the table: building and running a 24/7 global surveillance program, and conducting market surveillance as a regulator.
Mr. Ignoffo advises exchanges, prediction markets, and trading firms on market surveillance. He designs surveillance programs from the ground up, assesses live programs against the risks each venue actually faces, and prepares teams for regulatory exams and registration reviews. His work covers alert design and threshold tuning, case management, insider trading controls for event contracts, and the policies and procedures that hold a program together.
Previously, he served as Global Head of Market Surveillance at Gemini, where he built a global market surveillance program from the ground up for 24/7 markets, covering spot crypto, perpetual futures, event contracts, tokenized stocks, and equities. He also served as Chief Regulatory Officer of Gemini Titan, LLC, a CFTC-designated DCM operating a prediction market, and as Chief Compliance Officer of Gemini Olympus, LLC, a CFTC-registered DCO. He led both entities from initial application through CFTC approval and into live operations.
Mr. Ignoffo began his career at NFA. In its Market Regulation department, he conducted market surveillance for DCMs and swap execution facilities (SEFs) across a broad range of futures and swap products. Before that, he led forensic audits and investigations of futures commission merchants (FCMs), introducing brokers (IBs), commodity pool operators (CPOs), commodity trading advisors (CTAs), and retail foreign exchange dealers (RFEDs). That experience gives him a practical understanding of what regulators and examiners look for in a surveillance program.
He received his MBA with concentrations in strategy and economics from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and his B.S. in finance from Indiana University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He has passed the Series 3 and Series 34 examinations and has completed NFA's Swaps Proficiency Requirements.
